Boyle's Law (Mariotte's Law)

Calculate the volume and pressure relationships of ideal gases at constant temperature using Boyle's Law (Mariotte's Law), where P₁V₁ = P₂V₂

Boyle's Law (Mariotte's Law)

Boyle's law states that for a perfect gas at constant mass and temperature, the volume varies inversely with absolute pressure:

P₁V₁ = P₂V₂

Where:

  • P = absolute pressure (Pa, psi, MPa, etc.)
  • V = volume (m³, ft³, etc.)
  • Subscript 1 = initial state
  • Subscript 2 = final state
