Calculate the volume of an ideal gas vs. temperature using Charles' Law. In a perfect gas where mass and pressure are constant, volume varies directly with absolute temperature.

Charles' Law Formula

V₁ / T₁ = V₂ / T₂

Where:

  • V = volume (m³, ft³, L, etc.)
  • T = absolute temperature (K, °R)

Example Calculation

A gas occupies a volume of 2 liters at 0°C (273 K). The volume at 100°C (373 K):

V₂ = (T₂ × V₁) / T₁ = (373 K × 2 L) / (273 K) = 2.73 L
