Combustion Testing
Combustion testing of fuel oil and gas burners. Test burners for carbon dioxide, smoke, excess air, stack temperature, draft, and NOx to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Combustion Testing Parameters
To secure safe and efficient operation of gas or fuel oil burners, it is common to test the burners for:
- Carbon Dioxide (CO2): Low CO2 content (< 8%) indicates heat loss and inefficient operation. High CO2 may indicate excess smoke.
- Smoke: Applicable to fuel oil burners only. Indicates poor burner performance.
- Excess Air (O2/CO2): Measures the ratio of oxygen to carbon dioxide in flue gas.
- Stack Temperature: The net stack temperature is the difference between flue gas and room temperature. Typical values: 330-500°F (160-260°C).
- Draft: Ensures proper air flow and combustion.
- NOx: Nitrogen oxides emissions monitoring.
