Overview
The Dry Bulb, Wet Bulb, and Dew Point temperatures are fundamental properties used to determine the state of humid air. Knowing any two of these values is sufficient to fully characterize the thermodynamic state of moist air.
Dry Bulb Temperature (Tdb)
The dry bulb temperature is the ambient air temperature measured by a standard thermometer shielded from radiation and moisture. It indicates the heat content of the air and is typically measured in °C, °F, or K.
Wet Bulb Temperature (Twb)
The wet bulb temperature is the adiabatic saturation temperature, measured using a thermometer with a wet muslin bulb. It represents the temperature achievable through evaporative cooling and always falls between the dry bulb and dew point temperatures.
Dew Point Temperature (Tdp)
The dew point is the temperature at which water vapor begins to condense from the air. It indicates the absolute moisture content and is always lower than or equal to the dry bulb temperature.
