Dynamic viscosity is typically denoted by the symbol μ (mu) and is measured in:

  • SI units: Pascal-seconds (Pa·s) or Newtons-seconds per square meter (N·s/m²)
  • CGS units: Poise (P) or centipoise (cP), where 1 Pa·s = 10 Poise
  • US customary units: Pound-force-seconds per square foot (lbf·s/ft²)

It is temperature-dependent and generally decreases as temperature increases for most liquids.
