Important Notes:

  • Higher combustion temperatures increase NOx emissions
  • Higher air/fuel ratios increase NOx emissions
  • Hydrogen produces zero theoretical emissions, but in practice produces more NOx than natural gas due to high flame temperature
  • Catalytic systems on modern vehicles reduce NOx emissions
