Calculate the potential of pressure energy in an incompressible fluid. The pressure energy is expressed as ΔE = Δp / ρ, where ΔE is potential energy (J/kg), Δp is pressure difference (Pa), and ρ is density of fluid (kg/m³).

Where:

  • ΔE = potential energy (J/kg, Btu/lb)
  • Δp = pressure difference (Pa, lb/ft²)
  • ρ = density of fluid (kg/m³, lb/ft³)

Example

For a water tank with:

  • Pressure: 10 bar (10⁶ Pa)
  • Water density: 1000 kg/m³

The pressure energy is: ΔE = (10⁶ Pa) / (1000 kg/m³) = 1000 J/kg
