Relative vs. Absolute Voltage

Calculate relative and absolute voltage in electric circuits. Determine voltage between two points and voltage relative to earth (ground) reference.

Relative vs. Absolute Voltage

Absolute Voltage (UA): Voltage at point A quoted with reference to the earth point (ground reference).

Relative Voltage (UAB): Voltage at point A quoted with reference to point B.

Formulas Used:

  • Total Resistance: R = R₁ + R₂ + R₃ + ...
  • Current: I = U / R
  • Relative Voltage: UAB = R × I
  • Absolute Voltage at B: UB = UA - UAB
