Solutions, Molarity and Dilution
Calculator for molarity, dilution, and solution concentration calculations. Includes tools for calculating molarity, dilution equations, and concentration percentages.
Molarity Calculator
Molarity expresses the molar concentration of a compound in a solution:
M = n / V
Where:
- n = number of moles of solute (mol)
- M = Molarity of the solution (mol/L)
- V = volume of the solution (L)
Dilution Calculator
Dilution is the process where a solution is added more solvent to decrease the concentration of the solute.
In dilution, the number of moles remains constant:
Mi × Vi = Mf × Vf
Where:
- Mi = Initial molarity (mol/L)
- Vi = Initial volume (L)
- Mf = Final molarity (mol/L)
- Vf = Final volume (L)
Weight Percentage Calculator
The mass of solute expressed as a percentage of the mass of the whole solution:
wt% = (mass of solute / total mass of solution) × 100%
Moles from Mass Calculator
Calculate the number of moles from the mass and molar weight:
n = m / M
Where:
- n = number of moles (mol)
- m = mass (g)
- M = molar weight (g/mol)
