Steam Heating Processes - Load Calculating
Calculate heat transfer rates and steam requirements for both batch and continuous heating processes using steam. Determine the quantity of energy needed to change or maintain product/fluid temperature.
Steam Heating Processes - Load Calculating
This tool calculates heat transfer and steam requirements for steam heating applications.
Non-Flow (Batch) Heating
Formula: P = m × cp × dT / t
- P = Mean heat transfer rate (kW)
- m = Mass of product (kg)
- cp = Specific heat of product (kJ/kg·°C)
- dT = Temperature change (°C)
- t = Total heating time (seconds)
Flow (Continuous) Heating
Formula: P = cp × dT × (m/t)
- P = Mean heat transfer rate (kW)
- m/t = Mass flow rate (kg/s)
- cp = Specific heat of product (kJ/kg·°C)
- dT = Temperature change (°C)
Steam Requirement
Formula: ms = P / he
- ms = Mass of steam (kg/s)
- P = Heat transfer rate (kW)
- he = Evaporation energy of steam (kJ/kg)
