Steam Pipes - Online Pressure Drop Calculator

Calculate the pressure drop in saturated steam distribution pipe lines using metric or imperial units. Based on the Unwin formula for steam flow in pipes.

Pressure Drop Calculation

The pressure drop in a saturated steam distribution pipe line can be calculated using the Unwin formula:

Metric Units: $$dp = 0.6753 \times 10^6 \times q^2 \times l \times (1 + 91.4/d) / (\rho \times d^5)$$

Imperial Units: $$dp = 0.0001306 \times q^2 \times l \times (1 + 3.6/d) / (3600 \times \rho \times d^5)$$

Note: For pressure drops exceeding 10-15% of initial absolute pressure, use values corresponding to average pressure.
