Stockpile Volumes

Calculate volumes and mass of natural stockpiles. This tool provides calculators for both coned (conical) and rectangular pile configurations, using diameter/base dimensions, height, and material density.

Stockpile Volumes Calculator

Calculate the volume and mass of stockpiles using the following configurations:

  • Coned Pile: Based on diameter and height (conical shape)
  • Rectangular Pile: Based on length, width, and height (rectangular prism shape)

Formulas:

  • Coned Pile Volume: V = (π/12) × D² × H
  • Rectangular Pile Volume: V = L × W × H
  • Mass: m = ρ × V

where:

  • D = diameter (m or ft)
  • H = height (m or ft)
  • L = length (m or ft)
  • W = width (m or ft)
  • ρ = density (kg/m³ or lb/ft³)
  • V = volume (m³ or ft³)
  • m = mass (kg or lb)
