Application Guidance

Example Calculation

  • Exhaust Air Flow: 1200 cfm
  • Required Exhaust Piping Length: 60 ft

Solution Options

  1. Two 6" pipes in parallel: Each carrying 600 cfm provides ~120 ft maximum length
  2. Single 8" pipe: Internal area is approximately twice that of a 6" pipe, providing sufficient capacity for full 1200 cfm flow

Key Considerations

  • The internal cross-sectional area directly affects capacity
  • Doubling pipe diameter significantly increases capacity
  • Parallel pipe configurations can achieve required capacity with standard sizes
  • Pressure drop increases with flow velocity and pipe length
